The table on the left shows the different coloured belts in the grading system used at the club. Everybody begins as a white belt progressing through the Kyu grades to black belt. In addition to those grades shown opposite "mon" (half) grades can also be used if a student does not achieve the required standard for the full grade but is worthy of some advancement.
The Toyakwai Karate Association in accordance with the English Karate Federation (EKF) and World Karate Federation (WKF) sets the standard of all examinations.
Kyu gradings are held at the club every 4 months. You may be eligible for grading depending on your progress. For black belt grading, students will be asked to attend another venue and will be assessed by senior examiners of the Toyakwai Karate Association.
